Iron Content Check for Barley Straw
With each arrival of a barley straw shipment, we systematically check the iron content by analyzing three samples. Based on the measured values, we categorize the straw. The batches with minimal iron content are set aside, specifically intended for veal calves, which require a limited amount of iron in their diet to keep their meat white. Chopped barley straw is often used as a high-fiber feed for these calves, as the processing of the straw makes it easier to mix with other feeds. Additionally, it serves as an ideal bedding material in stalls for horses, pigs, and poultry.
